Walk

Guided hike, lunch and wine tasting

Be inspired by our expert guide as you hike through the fynbos, followed by a wine tasting and delectable cheese and charcuterie platter.

You will do a 2 hour guided hike through a 100 hectare tract of land of protected fynbos (the indigenous and unique floral kingdom of the Overberg) on a prestigious wine farm in the valley. Your inspirational guide has spent his entire life protecting the fynbos and worked at rehabilitating it where invasive plants threaten the scarce water resources. He is a living legend and fantastic storyteller. You will learn about the hundreds of species of fynbos and also about managing and coordinating the conservation activities on the farm to improve sustainability.

After the walk you will visit the local wine cellar for a special wine tasting. This will be followed by a delicious cheese and charcuterie platter overlooking the vineyards, valley and the sea in the distance.

This walk was the highlight of my holiday.  The guided walk in the mountains is a fantastic way to experience the area.  Not only do you get to experience the beauty of the mountains, you get an in-depth experience of the complicated ecosystem.   This should, however, have been called an ecological tour as it was so much more than a tour of flora of the area.  The guides’ technical knowledge of the plants and history of the area was outstanding .  Not to be missed!
